HOn30 Shay (2 Truck 18-20 Ton)
These are pictures of a free-lanced HOn30 Shay. A Life-Like N-scale
GP-18 provides the motive power. The entire frame, water tank, cab and boiler
are scratchbuilt, with detail parts from Keystone Locomotive Works and Precision
Scale. I have also included construction detail photos, as well as preliminary plans in .pdf format. There is a constant
lighting circuit inside as well. The disk-shaped copper object is a US penny
(7.5 mm diameter).
No the gearing doesn't work, but I can live with it! To see some information on real Shays, look here.
